Introducing the 2020 Jeep Gladiator at Ultimate Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram

New for the 2020 model year is the Jeep Gladiator, a vehicle that is the perfect combination of a pickup truck and a Jeep SUV. Indeed, the Gladiator combines the best of both worlds to appeal to daily commuters and off-road enthusiasts around Mountain Home, AR alike. The new iteration of the Gladiator is available in Sport, Sport S, Overland, and Rubicon trim. There's also a special edition of the Gladiator known as North Edition, named so because it is optimized for the coldest and snowiest of driving conditions.

Performance and Drivetrain

Powering the 2020 Jeep Gladiator is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which produces 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Although it is typically hitched to a six-speed manual transmission, you can opt for an eight-speed automatic transmission for greater gear-shifting convenience. Front-wheel and four-wheel drivetrain choices are available. Regarding the latter, the Rubicon has the exclusive Rock-Trac, a heavy-duty system that includes beefy axles to withstand the most brutal of expeditions. The other trims use the less robust, but no less effective, Command-Trac. The maximum towing ability on the Gladiator is measured at 7,650 pounds, so it's easy to haul your cargo around West Plains, MO.

Interior Features

As a midsize pickup truck, the Jeep Gladiator is unique in that it has a three-piece hardtop roof and front and rear doors that can be fully removed. Also unique is the ability to lower the windshield. Thus, the Gladiator is like its SUV relative, the Wrangler, which allows you to soak in the outdoor atmosphere around Batesville, AR.

Inside the Gladiator are two rows of cloth-trimmed seats that can accommodate up to five people. The front consists of a two-way manually adjustable driver's seat and a four-way manually adjustable passenger seat, and the rear seatback has a 60/40 split-folding design to make cargo volume expansion possible.

Upgrading to the Sport S furnishes the steering wheel with leather wrapping. The Overland and Rubicon cloth seats are distinctive with their respective emblems, and only the North Edition offers front-seat heating and a heated steering wheel to keep you warm during cold days. Also unique to the North Edition are durable all-weather floor mats and leather seat trim.

Dual front impact airbags, dual front seat-mounted airbags, and dual roof-mounted side impact airbags provide the Jeep Gladiator with the necessary restraint and cushioning ability during a collision. Also standard are a rearview camera, electronic vehicle stability control with roll mitigation, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, trailer sway control, hill start assist, traction control, and a theft-deterrent system that incorporates engine immobilization. On the Sport S trim and higher, a security alarm is also on board for making the theft-deterrent system more robust.

Comfort and Convenience

The Jeep Gladiator uses Uconnect infotainment integration, which is anchored by a five-inch touchscreen, to bring together all the technology components. You'll enjoy eight speakers, a USB port and an auxiliary audio jack to play media from mobile devices, a slot for playing media from an SD flash memory card, and Bluetooth wireless technology for hands-free phone calling and audio streaming around Heber Springs.

Also standard is a vehicle information center, blank switches to run accessories, phone-holding slots, and push-button start (which is present on all trims but the Sport S).

The remote keyless entry appears at the Sport S level. The Overland and Rubicon get a seven-inch color display for digital instrumentation (instead of a vehicle information center), a seven-inch touchscreen in place of the smaller five-inch one, AM/FM radio, a pair of charging-only USB ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphone control, and a trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio.
